Arnold Schwarzenegger defends Eliza Dushku over ‘True Lies’ sexual assault claims

"I’m shocked and saddened for Eliza but I am also proud of her"

Arnold Schwarzenegger has defended Eliza Dushku after his True Lies co-star claimed that she was sexually assaulted on the set of the 1994 film.

Posting on Facebook, The 37-year-old actress alleged that she was attacked by stuntman Joel Kramer, who has since dismissed her claims as “absolute lies”.

Now, Schwarzenegger has responded for the first time after co-star Tom Arnold claimed that the True Lies cast “would’ve done something” if they had been aware of the allegations at the time of filming.

“Tom, you bet your ass all of us would have done something. I’m shocked and saddened for Eliza but I am also proud of her – beyond being a great talent and an amazing woman, she is so courageous”, Schwarzenegger wrote on Twitter.

Dushku, who famously starred in as Faith in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, claimed that only her parents, one of her older brothers and two friends had been made aware of her experience on the film.

“Hollywood has been very good to me in many ways. Nevertheless, Hollywood also failed to protect me, a child actress,” she wrote.

 “Through the years, brave fans have regularly shared with me how some of my characters have given them the conviction to stand up to their abusers. Now it is you who give me strength and conviction. I hope that speaking out will help other victims and protect against future abuse.”

Kramer has vehemently denied Dushku’s claims and confirmed that he is considering legal action against the actress.

“This is all vile lies. I never molested this young woman, ever”, he told Us Weekly

“I am angry, I am just hurt. This is just out of nowhere and she has put out what she is going to say, so it is a he said, she said. My career is done. She just ruined me.”

In response, Dushku confirmed that she stands by her account, describing Kramer’s “denials” as “not accurate.
