Australian TV host brands ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ the ‘worst film ever’ – watch

Breakfast presenter's scathing on air review of the feverishly-anticipated film goes viral

An Australian TV journalist’s scathing on air review of Fifty Shades Of Grey has gone viral online.

Lisa Wilkinson, a co-host on the Nine Network’s breakfast show Today, branded the big screen adaptation of EL James’s erotic novel “the worst movie I’ve ever seen” and claimed it is “two hours of absolute drivel”. “It’s domestic violence dressed up as erotica and if there’s one thing this movie is not, it’s erotic,” she added witheringly.

Fifty Shades Of Grey opens in UK cinemas today (February 13) – right in time for Valentine’s Day. The feverishly-anticipated film has been rated ‘R’ in the US for “strong sexual content and unusual behaviour” and ’18’ in the UK for “strong sex and nudity”. The film’s 100-minute running time is said to include around 20 minutes of sex scenes.

The Fall‘s Jamie Dornan stars as Christian Grey, the kinky businessman who seduces demure college student Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson. Dornan recently revealed that he visited a sex dungeon to prepare for the role. In addition to Ora, the film’s supporting cast includes Luke Grimes, Marcia Gay Harden and Jennifer Ehle.

Fifty Shades Of Grey was directed by Nowhere Boy‘s Sam Taylor Johnson with EL James serving as a producer. The tracklisting for the soundtrack has recently been released and features songs by Beyonce, The Rolling Stones, The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding and Sia.
