Chris Hemsworth has revealed that his character Thor will feel guilt over the events of Avengers Assemble.

The plot of Marvel’s superhero mash-up sees the God Of Thunder’s twisted brother Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, raise an alien army to invade Earth, following the events of Thor itself.

The plot spurs Samuel L Jackson‘s superspy Nick Fury to assemble the Earth’s mightiest heroes, in the form of Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Thor himself. But in a new video interview, which you can watch above, Hemsworth says that for his character, the battle becomes a deeply personal one.

He said: “Thor feels an incredible amount of responsibility for what’s going on because Loki’s motives are rooted in his resentment for Thor and his situation, so it becomes quite a personal approach to it.”

Meanwhile, Hiddleston revealed more about his villainous character’s motives. “His beef is still similar to the first one. He has no kingdom. He was cast out of his own kingdom and he’s come down to planet Earth to refashion it as his his kingdom, which he feels is his due.”

Avengers Assemble, directed by Joss Whedon, is released in the UK tomorrow (April 27)
