Doc will feature interview with the film's cast, director, producer and screenwriter
A new documentary about Back To The Future is to be released this October.
The documentary will feature interviews with the trilogy’s stars Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson, its director Robert Zemeckis, producer Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Bob Gale.
Titled Back In Time, it will look back at the making of the classic sci-fi trilogy as well as examining its cult following today. Huey Lewis, whose band wrote two songs for the original 1985 film’s soundtrack, ‘The Power Of Love’ and ‘Back In Time’, which gives the documentary its title, will also be interviewed.
The documentary will be released by indie film distributors Gravitas, whose president Nolan Gallagher told Deadline: “Iconic documentaries, like a bolt of lightning, only come around so often. We are honored to be a part of the Back To The Future mythology and bringing this must-have film to the millions of fans who have loved the trilogy all these years.”
The film’s director Jason Aron added: “As fans of the trilogy and filmmakers, it was extremely important for us to have this documentary seen by as many people as possible. We knew within minutes that the team at Gravitas would make that dream a possibility.”
The original Back To The Future film celebrated its 30th anniversary on July 3 and the film’s stars reunited for a special anniversary panel at London Film and Comic-Con later that month.
Robert Zemeckis has recently revealed that Back To The Future cannot be remade until he and the film’s screenwriter Bob Gale are both dead. He described the concept of a reboot as “outrageous” and “insanity”.
