Actor says 'Born This Way' singer hasn't been offered role in sequel
Ben Stiller has denied reports that Lady Gaga will star in Zoolander 2.
It was suggested earlier this week (October 18) that the ‘Born This Way’ singer had been offered £3 million to feature in the comedy sequel, with an anonymous source claiming: “Gaga is top of their wish-list. She has the talent and attitude – and an amazing sense of humour.”
However, Stiller has now taken to Twitter to scotch the rumours, claiming that reports linking her with a role in the flick are “untrue” and “made up” – scroll down to see his message.
In October last year, Stiller’s co-star Owen Wilson spoke about the plans for Zoolander 2 and revealed that his character, VH1 Model Of The Year Hansel, has suffered a disfiguring injury since the 2001 original.
Back in January, meanwhile, Stiller announced he and Zoolander screenwriter Justin Theroux had finished the scrip for the sequel, which will pick up with the dim-witted models 10 years after the first film took place.
“Most of it is set in Europe,” said Stiller. “I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel 10 years later, though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime.
“Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore,” he added. “It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way.”
