Stiller's fashion comedy sequel arrives in cinemas in February 2016
Ben Stiller’s dim-witted male model Derek Zoolander has returned in the first teaser trailer for Zoolander 2.
The two-minute teaser features a brief history of the universe to date before Stiller’s model ponders “the one question that has puzzled mankind since the beginning of time: If God exists, why did he make ugly people?”
Writer-director-star Ben Stiller Stiller started shooting the sequel this April in Rome from a script he has co-written with his Tropic Thunder collaborator Justin Theroux. Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor are all reprising their roles from the original Zoolander film too.
Joining them in the sequel are Penelope Cruz, Kristen Wiig and Portlandia‘s Fred Armisen, while Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Willie Nelson have all signed up for cameos.
Released in 2001, the original film followed Stiller’s Derek Zoolander as he got sucked into a plot by corrupt fashion executives to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Stiller’s film has gained a sizeable cult following in the years since its release and Zoolander 2 is set for release on February 12, 2016.
