‘Bill & Ted 3’ is ‘really fucking funny’ confirms star Alex Winter

He says the script for the long-awaited movie has "been finished for a while"

Bill & Ted 3 is set to be “really fucking funny” the star of the franchise Alex Winter has said.

Winter, who played Bill S. Preston Esq. in 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey in 1991, has said that a third film is definitely in the pipeline. Speaking to Yahoo! Movies, he said the movie “will be 40-something and it’s all about Bill and Ted grown up, or not grown up. It’s really sweet and really fucking funny.”

However, he added that it will take some time before the movie eventually hits cinemas. “The thing we had going against us is that word got out. That was kind of a bummer. It just takes a long time to put a movie together. Now we’re having to build this thing in public, which is fine. I just feel bad [the fans] have to get dragged through this long, boring, protracted process.” He added: “We’ve been working on drafts for the last couple of years. The script’s been finished for a while, but comedy is so specific. We’re in that world where producers are on, financiers are on and we’re just working and reworking the script.”

Last year fellow star Keanu Reeves also confirmed that Bill & Ted 3 was in the works, saying: “We are trying to put it together.” Released in 1989, Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure followed a pair of metalhead slackers – played by Reeves and Winter – as they travelled through time in a phone booth. The pair reprised their popular roles for a 1991 sequel called Bill And Ted’s Bogus Journey.

Plans for a third movie featuring the duo were first confirmed publicly in 2010. In March 2013 Reeves revealed that the film’s script was “done” and that July the project appeared to be moving forward by signing a director: RED 2‘s Dean Parisot.
