Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie marry in France

Couple due to start filming experimental romance 'By The Sea'

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married at a private ceremony in France on Saturday.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the couple were wed in a small chapel at Chateau Miraval, near Correns in the south of France.

The couple are due to travel to Malta where shooting is set to begin on Jolie’s third directorial effort, By The Sea.

By The Sea is pitched as an experimental romance and will be the first time the couple have starred in a film together since Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005. The couple met while shooting Doug Liman’s spy caper. They were engaged in 2012 and have six children.

Pitt was married to Friends actress Jennifer Aniston for five years; Jolie’s marriage to Pitt is her third, the actress was previously wed to Johnny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

Pitt’s next film is World War 2 thriller Fury. He plays a tough Sergeant known as Wardaddy who commands a Sherman tank crew behind enemy lines. The film, also starring Shia LaBeouf and The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal, opens during the London Film Festival on October 19

Jolie’s second film as director also has a war theme and is due for release in cinemas on Boxing Day. Unbroken tells the true life tale of Olympian turned war hero Louis Zamperini played by British actor Jack O’Connell.
