The Chicago rapper will voice a new character in the follow-up to the 2016 animated DreamWorks film
Chance The Rapper has joined the cast of Trolls 2.
The forthcoming sequel to the 2016 animated film, which was produced by DreamWorks and based on the original Troll dolls, is currently in the works with a April 2020 release date pencilled in.
Chance has been cast in the new movie alongside Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri actor Sam Rockwell and Hamilton‘s Anthony Ramos. The trio join a cast which also includes Jamie Dornan, Deadpool actor Karan Soni and YouTuber Flula Borg.
Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake will reprise their roles as Queen Poppy and Branch respectively, with Walt Dohrn set to direct Trolls 2.
A brief synopsis for the sequel reads: “Along with their troll friends, Queen Poppy and Branch must create harmony among the feuding Trolls in order to take on a new, mysterious threat.” [via The Hollywood Reporter]
Last month, Chance was forced to apologise after he defended a series of tweets posted by Kanye West which voiced the latter’s support for Donald Trump.
Chance, who has previously worked with Kanye on such songs as ‘Ultralight Beam’ and ‘All We Got’, said that “I didn’t speak up because I agree with what Kanye had to say or cause I fuck with Trump, I did it because I wanted to help my friend and cause I felt like I was being used to attack [Kanye].”
