Channing Tatum has confirmed that he will appear in the sequel to British spy-thriller Kingsman.

The actor, who appeared in Hail, Caesar! earlier this year will take a role alongside Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Taron Egerton in the follow up to 2015’s surprise box-office success Kingsman: The Secret Service

Tatum tweeted he would join the Kingsman: The Golden Circle last night. “I’m about to get all up in that Golden Circle. #Kingsman,” he tweeted.

He later added, “My Momma always told me that the British gave us Southerners our good manners.”

Director Matthew Vaughn recently revealed Kingsman 2‘s official title and a few plot teasers.

The sequel has been named Kingsman: The Golden Circle. It will see Taron Egerton’s Eggsy and Mark Strong’s Merlin head to the US to work with the “Statesmen”, an American secret spy society whose headquarters are disguised as a whiskey distillery.

Once there, they will join forces with the US organisation’s leader, Ginger, played by Halle Berry, to combat a villain named Poppy, played by Julianne Moore.

At present, Colin Firth is not expected to return for the sequel, though Vaughn has spoken in the past about potentially finding a way to bring his character back. Further casting for the sequel has yet to be announced.

Based on the comic book The Secret Service by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar, the original Kingsman film starred Egerton, Strong, Firth and Michael Caine as members of a secret spy society trying to thwart a megalomaniac billionaire (Samuel L Jackson) who is planning a mass genocide.

After opening in early 2015, it went on to rake in over $400 million (£260 million) at the global box office, becoming a surprise smash for 20th Century Fox. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is scheduled for release on June 16, 2017.
