Charlize Theron wanted for villain role in ‘Fast & Furious 8’

The next car chase sequel races into cinemas in April 2017

Charlize Theron is reportedly wanted for a key role in the next Fast & Furious film.

Next year’s Fast & Furious 8 will have a “fierce female villain”, Deadline reports, and the Oscar-winning Monster actress is said to be favoured by director F. Gary Gray and screenwriter Chris Morgan.

Diesel previously revealed that the Fast & Furious franchise will end with “one last trilogy”, meaning that according to current plans. 2010’s Fast & Furious 10 will be its final instalment.

After opening in cinemas earlier this year, Fast & Furious 7 became the franchise’s most successful outing yet, grossing over $1.516 billion (£1.05 billion) at the global box office. That total places the car chase sequel sixth on the all-time list behind Avatar, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World and Marvel’s The Avengers.
