The murderous doll is now called Buddi - but he's still causing trouble
The trailer for the new remake of classic horror movie Child’s Play has been released, featuring a new iteration of Chucky.
Now named Buddi, the murderous doll is more hi-tech in the upcoming new version. At one point in the film’s trailer, he is seen scanning the face of his new owner, while the clip also reveals that he was created by the Kaslan Corporation tech company.
Despite those changes, the toy still wears the iconic blue dungarees and stripy jumper and possesses the same bloodthirsty streak as its predecessor. You can watch a teaser of some of his terrifying antics in the trailer below.
Aubrey Plaza will play mum Karen Barclay in the new movie, while Gabriel Bateman will appear as her son – and the unlucky recipient of Buddi – Andy. Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry will also star in the film as Detective Mike Norris.
Child’s Play is due for release on June 21, 2019 in the US. No UK release date has been confirmed at present.
The film comes from the same producers as 2017’s remake of IT. The sequel to the Stephen King adaptation, IT: Chapter 2, is scheduled for release on September 6, 2019.
It will star the likes of Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy as the grown-up version of the Losers’ Club as they return to Derry to try and defeat Pennywise once more.
