Based on a comic book by Mark Millar, the first film told the story of an ordinary teenager who reinvents himself as a real-life superhero called Kick-Ass. When it hit cinemas in 2010, Kick Ass wasn’t a huge box office success, but it’s since built a strong following on DVD and Blu-ray.

Directed by Jeff Wadlow, who also wrote the script based on Millar’s Kick-Ass 2 comic book, the sequel was shot in Toronto between September and November last year (2012). The film also stars John Leguizamo, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and former Scrubs actor Donald Faison, and opens in UK cinemas on July 19.
