Did Chris Evans just accidentally confirm the ‘Black Widow’ movie?

Could this be the next Marvel spin-off?

It seems Marvel‘s The Black Widow movie has got the go-ahead, with Chris Evans accidentally letting the news slip in a new interview.

Speaking to ET Canada, the actor seemed pretty confident about its existence when asked about the success of Black Panther, stating that he expects both Captain Marvel and The Black Widow to be similarly massive. “Marvel just has the winning recipe,” says Evans.

The latest confirmation comes after Stan Lee told a Brisbane panel that the movie was in the works, though an official confirmation is yet to be released.

Natasha Romanova aka the Black Widow has been played by Scarlett Johansson in the movies Iron Man 2Avengers AssembleCaptain America: The Winter SoldierAvengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. She will also appear in this year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Asked if he would like to see a film focused on the superhero, Lee is reported to have replied: “One day there will be a Black Widow movie.”

Sources also recently told Variety that Jac Schaeffer has been named as the writer on the movie. She has also written the screenplay for the upcoming Nasty Women – a female-focused take on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – which she was asked to work on by Anne Hathaway.

Marvel President Kevin Feige is reported to have met with several other candidates before confirming Schaeffer as the film’s writer. At present, Marvel have not commented on the reports.
