Disney is reportedly planning to revive the franchise after buying the rights from Paramount in 2013
Guardians Of The Galaxy star Chris Pratt is reportedly being lined up to star in a new Indiana Jones movie.
According to Deadline, Disney is planning to revive the franchise after buying the rights from Paramount in 2013. The project is said to be at a “very early” stage but Disney apparently has Pratt in mind to lead the reboot as Indiana Jones.
He would take over from Harrison Ford, who last played the ass-kicking archaeologist in 2008’s Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, joined by Shia LaBeouf as his son Mutt. The film, which revived the action franchise after nearly two decades, was a big hit at the box office, grossing over $780 million (£510 million) worldwide.
Speaking in 2013, Ford insisted that he could still star in another Indiana Jones film despite his advancing years. Bradley Cooper was linked to the franchise last year (2014) but producer Frank Marshall quickly branded the rumours “ridiculous”.
Meanwhile, Pratt will next be seen in Jurassic World, which opens in cinemas on June 12. He is also set to star opposite Denzel Washington in a new The Magnificent Seven movie from director Antoine Fuqua, which starts shooting in April.
