Christian Bale to play Steve Jobs in David Fincher’s biopic?

Director keen to work with 'American Hustle' actor

Christian Bale could land the role of Steve Jobs in a biopic of the late Apple founder’s life, according to reports.

The Wrap says that with David Fincher rumoured to be the studio’s favourite to direct the picture, the Social Network filmmaker has told Sony that he will only be involved if he can work with Bale. However, there has been no official confirmation of the reports.

Bale has recently drawn a line under his role as Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and won acclaim for his performance in American Hustle. Fincher, meanwhile, has been linked with the Jobs biopic for several months, with reports claiming that he will reunite with The Social Network scriptwriter Alan Sorkin on the film.

Steve Jobs served as Apple CEO over three decades from 1971 to 2000, before dying in October 2011 of complications arising from pancreatic cancer. Another biopic of his life, simply titled Jobs and starring Ashton Kutcher in the titular role, was released in the US in 2013.
