Court grants Amber Heard domestic violence restraining order against Johnny Depp

Heard filed for divorce earlier this week just 15 months after marrying Depp

A Los Angeles court has awarded Amber Heard a domestic violence restraining order against Johnny Depp.

The pair married only 15 months ago, but earlier this week Heard filed for divorce from the actor.

Court documents filed by Heard’s lawyers claim that Depp “violently attacked” the American actress in their penthouse apartment on Saturday night.

As the Guardian reports, photographs submitted in evidence to the court show a large bruise on Heard’s face. They also document broken bottles, picture frames and glasses.

Documents also allege two other incidents of domestic violence, including one on Heard’s birthday where Depp is said to have thrown a magnum-sized bottle of champagne at the wall and a wine glass at his wife. He is then said to have grabbed her by the hair and shoved her to the floor.

In a deposition, Heard said: “During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me. I endured excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him.”

Heard filed for divorce on Monday (May 23) and is seeking spousal support from Depp. Court records cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split. It’s believed Depp and Heard did not have a pre-nuptial agreement.

Their split comes days after the death of Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, who passed away on May 20.
