Daniel Craig: ‘I wrote ‘Quantum Of Solace’ script myself’

Actor was forced to step in when Writers' Strike hit

Daniel Craig has revealed that he wrote sections of the script for Quantum Of Solace.

The actor was forced to step in as screenwriter for his second outing as James Bond when the Writer’s Guild Of America strike of 2007/8 crippled Hollywood.

Craig told Time Out: “We had the bare bones of a script – then there was the writers’ strike and there was nothing we could do.”

Explaining the situation, he added: “We couldn’t employ a writer to finish it. There was me trying to rewrite scenes – and a writer I am not. Me and [director] Mark Foster were the ones allowed to do it. The rules were that you couldn’t employ anyone as a writer, but the actor and director could work on scenes together. We were stuffed. We got away with it, but only just.”

Craig is currently filming his third outing as 007, Skyfall.
