Daniel Craig promises ‘Skyfall’ humour

The James Bond actor says the new movie has 'very funny' moments

Daniel Craig has claimed that his new James Bond film Skyfall is “very funny”.

The actor’s two previous outings as 007 – Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace – have seen a grittier Bourne-style approach to the iconic spy.

But in a new interview with The Sun, Craig promised a different flavour third time around. He said: “The humour is not something we try to do, but it just comes from the situations. I think there are some very funny lines in it, but then I have a very dark sense of humour, so others might not agree with me.”

Craig added: “Go-go dancers. It’s not something I have done before and I thought it was about time I showed that part of myself… It feels like an old-fashioned Bond movie. I am still learning. I want to be challenged every day – and I am being challenged.”

Responding to speculation that Skyfall had suffered from a reduced budget, Craig said: “There is nothing tight about what we have done. We have just spent the money in the right places. I am very fortunate to get to make movies like this. We want to give the audience as much value for money as we can.”

Skyfall is due for release in the UK on September 26, starring Craig as James Bond and Judi Dench as M, plus guest stars Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes.
