Daniel Craig says new James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ won’t be ‘angst-ridden’

Actor promises he and director Sam Mendes won't be skimping on the action

Daniel Craig has insisted that the new James Bond flick Skyfall will have plenty of action and won’t be “angst-ridden”.

The actor, who was speaking to MTV, dispelled fears that director Sam Mendes would make a dramatic, emotional movie like his pictures American Beauty and Revolutionary Road at the cost of losing the franchise’s trademark action scenes.

“I sat down with Sam Mendes two years ago, three years ago – now it’s getting on four – and we discussed what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it, and he’s one of the biggest Bond fans around,” he said.

He added:

He’s not out to do an angst-ridden movie, some chamber piece about people’s emotions. It’s a Bond movie. But we both agreed that if he cast the film, which he did really well, and we brought in older characters and new characters, that we’d have something really rich and sort of exciting to watch.

Skyfall will also star Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Bérénice Marlohe, Helen McCrory and Javier Bardem. It will open in cinemas on October 26. Last month, Adele topped an online poll to see who fans who would like to record the film’s theme, coming out on top ahead of Muse, U2, Foo Fighters and Florence And The Machine.
