Harry Potter star changes direction with supernatural thriller directed by Alexandre Aja
A new trailer has been released for supernatural thriller Horns, which stars Daniel Radcliffe.
The Harry Potter star puts down his wand to lead the latest shocker from Piranha 3D director Alexandre Aja.
“A lot of people see me as Harry, but it only takes one director to see you as somebody else and luckily there have been four or five,” Radcliffe told fans at Comic-Con in San Diego last month.
The latest to see past the cloak and spectacles of the Hogwarts hero, Aja casts Radcliffe in fantasy horror flick Horns as a small-town guy with a big problem.
Ig Perrish (Radcliffe) is accused of the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend Merrin Williams (Juno Temple). Following a night of heavy drinking, Ig awakes one morning on the anniversary of her death to find a pair of horns growing from his head. He discovers they have the ability to drive people to confess their sins and give in to selfish impulses. Ig decides to use this tool to discover the circumstances of his girlfriend’s death and to seek revenge by finding the true murderer.
Speaking at Comic-Con about Radcliffe’s character, Aja revealed: “Physically he is turning into the devil but inside he is still himself. It’s the world around him that is turning into hell.”
Based on the best-selling novel by Joe Hill, the film also stars Max Minghella (son of the late director Anthony Minghella) and Heather Graham (The Hangover).
Horns premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last September and will be released in cinemas in time for Halloween on October 29.
