Denzel Washington being lined up to play Green Lantern?

Oscar-winner reportedly in talks to appear in Superman sequel 'Man Of Steel 2'

Denzel Washington is reportedly in talks to play superhero Green Lantern in Man of Steel 2.

According to Ace Showbiz, the Oscar-winner would take over the role from Safe House co-star Ryan Reynolds who played the Hal Jordan version of the DC Comics favourite in the disappointing 2011 film. With a sequel still not in the works and looking more unlikely, and DC eager to get their Justice League film off the ground, it looks as if another Green Lantern, the John Stewart version, will be introduced in 2015’s Superman sequel Man Of Steel 2, or Superman Vs Batman as some are calling it.

Initially it was thought Washington was being approached to play Lex Luthor, although reports now state Joaquin Phoenix has been approached to play a younger version of Superman’s nemesis. It’s also expected Matrix star Laurence Fishburne will return to play Daily Globe editor Perry White.

300 and Watchmen director Zack Snyder is returning to helm the Man of Steel sequel, which has a release date of July 17, 2015. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams will reprise their roles as Superman and Lois Lane respectively, while Ben Affleck has joined the cast as Batman, despite an internet petition to stop it happening. Snyder has also confirmed model and Fast & Furious star Gal Gadot will be playing Wonder Woman, paving the way for a full Justice League film to follow a year or two after the Superman sequel.
