‘Die Hard’ actor Jai Courtney cast as Kyle Reese in ‘Terminator’ reboot

Courtney will star opposite 'Game Of Thrones'' Emilia Clarke in picture

Australian actor Jai Courtney has been cast as Kyle Reese in the forthcoming Terminator reboot, it has been confirmed.

Courtney, who has previously starred in Hollywood films including A Good Day To Die Hard and Jack Reacher, will take on the role made famous by Michael Biehn in the original sci-fi classic. Variety says that he beat competition from US actor Boyd Holbrook to win the part.

Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis, with Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jason Clarke set to portray her son John. The film is set to be the first in a new stand-alone trilogy of Terminator movies, with Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor hired as director. Arnold Schwarzenegger will also reprise his role as the Terminator for the reboot.

It was reported in January of this year (2014) that Terminator: Genesis had lost one of its financial backers after Annapurna Pictures pulled their funding from the project, but Skydance Productions and distributer Paramount Pictures will still finance the film.
