Donald Glover to join ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ cast

The musician and actor will star in the upcoming reboot

Donald Glover is in talks to join the cast of the forthcoming Spider-Man reboot.

The American actor and musician is being considered for a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is due to begin production in June, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The latest film in the superhero franchise stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and will follow the character in his high school years.

Glover has previously been mooted for the role of Spider-Man in 2012. Despite a vocal grassroots fan campaign, the part went to Andrew Garfield. However, Glover went on to voice the hero in Disney’s animated series Ultimate Spider-Man.

Details of Glover’s character in the new film have been kept tightly under wraps. The actor has recently starred in Ridley Scott’s The Martian and alongside Channing Tatum in 2015’s Magic Mike XXL.

Glover, who also makes music under the name Childish Gambino, last released an EP and mixtape in 2014.

Among those that have already been cast for the reboot are Michael Keaton as a villain, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Zendaya as the female lead. Robert Downey Jr. will appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
