EE to replace ‘Orange Wednesdays’ with £1 ‘Film Club’ streaming offer

EE Film Club in association with streaming service wuaki.tv launches later this month (March)

EE has announced its replacement for the long-running “Orange Wednesdays” promotion, which came to an end last month (February) after 12 years.

Starting on March 30, the “EE Film Club” will allow all EE, Orange and T-Mobile customers to rent a blockbuster film each week for £1 using streaming service Wuaki.tv. EE promises that the films available will range from the “latest blockbusters to a huge library of cinema classics”.

In a press release, EE said that the new promotion has been “launched in response to changing customer behaviour, with 1 in 3 UK adults now downloading or streaming films and TV every week”.

Customers will be able to take advantage of the EE Film Club £1 offer by texting “film” to 141 at a cost of 35p per SMS to receive a promotional code which will then be redeemable from Monday to Wednesday at the Wuaki.tv checkout. They will have 48 hours from the moment they are charged £1 to watch their film of choice.

EE’s Chief Marketing Officer Pippa Dunn said that the new promotion reflects the fact that “more people than ever before are downloading and streaming movies”. The EE Film Cub offer “is set to be a box office hit with our customers”, Dunn predicted.
