Emily Blunt in talks to join Chris Hemsworth in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ sequel

Sequel is simply titled 'The Huntsman' and won't feature Kristen Stewart's Snow White

Emily Blunt is reportedly in talks to join Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron in the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.

According to TheWrap, the Into the Woods actress is in the frame to play The Snow Queen, the evil sister of Theron’s character, Queen Ravenna.

The sequel is simply titled The Huntsman and will not feature Kristen Stewart’s Snow White. It will instead focus on Hemsworth’s Huntsman as he embarks on a quest to track down a magic mirror which has been stolen from him.

The sequel was due to be directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile), who also wrote the most recent draft of its screenplay, but Darabont has recently left the project over creative differences with makers Universal. A new director is expected to be hired later this month (January).

Released in 2012, the original Snow White and the Huntsman starred Stewart, Hemsworth and Theron was directed by Rupert Sanders, who is now set to direct a remake of Japanese anime hit Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson. It grossed over $395 million (£260 million) at the box office worldwide.
