Reboot starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell is due in cinemas next August
An official plot synopsis for the new Fantastic Four film has been released by 20th Century Fox.
The reboot stars Miles Teller as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm aka Invisible Girl, Michael B Jordan as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm aka The Thing. Toby Kebbell will appear as supervillain Dr Doom.
The plot synopsis teases: “The Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centres on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.”
Chronicle director Josh Trank is behind the camera, shooting from a script by Simon Kinberg (X-Men:Days Of Future Past) and up-and-coming screenwriter Jeremy Slater. The film is set to open in cinemas on August 7 next year.
Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four superhero crew previously appeared on the big screen in a low-budget 1994 film titled The Fantastic Four and in a glossier 2005 offering starring Chris Evans and Jessica Alba called Fantastic Four, which spawned a sequel that arrived two years later, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
