Tara Reid has hinted that a fifth American Pie movie could be on the way – almost 20 years since the cult classic first hit cinemas.
The actress, who played Vicky Lathum in the high school classic, revealed that she recently met directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg who are keen on shooting a fifth instalment.
“I met the directors recently at the Emmy party and I said, ‘Let’s do the fifth movie, the franchise needs another movie’,” Tara told CinePOP.
“They replied, ‘It will happen! We’re going to make another!'”
She also claimed that the film could shoot as early as the end of this year.
“It will be incredible to come back. American Pie is American Pie,” she said.
“The movies were a part of American culture, it’s a classic. It is known all over the world.
“I’m very excited. It’s going to be a great year for me, with Sharknado’s [The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time] debut and the possibility of filming yet another American Pie in 2018.”
But despite her optimism, it seems that Sean William Scott isn’t so sure.
Last year, the Stifler actor admitted that a fifth instalment might not make sense, after 2012’s American Reunion raked in a paltry $57 million at the US box office.
“I think the studio cooled on the idea of doing another American Pie because of that domestic take,” he said.
