Sequel to 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' is set for release on February 10, 2017
A brief teaser for Fifty Shades Darker is now available to watch online.
The teaser featuring Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey is taken from today’s Digital HD release of Fifty Shades Of Grey and the film’s Blu-ray release, which will follow on May 8.
Universal Pictures has recently confirmed the release dates of its two sequels to Fifty Shades Of Grey.Fifty Shades Darker, based on the second novel in E.L. James’ erotic trilogy, will open in cinemas on February 10, 2017. Fifty Shades Freed, based on James’ third and most recent novel, will follow on February 9, 2018.
The original Fifty Shades Of Grey film, which stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, opened on February 13 this year (2015) and has now grossed over $568 million (£375 million) at the global box office despite generally negative reviews. It was directed by Nowhere Boy‘s Sam Taylor-Johnson, who has previously announced that she won’t be returning to direct the sequels.
It was revealed last month (April) that the screenplay for Fifty Shades Darker will be written by Niall Leonard, husband of EL James, whose previous screenwriting credits include numerous episodes of British TV shows Wire In The Blood, Monarch Of The Glen and Wild At Heart. The sequel’s director has yet to be announced.
