'Pixels', 'Paul Blart Mall Cop 2' and 'Fantastic Four' all receive multiple nominations too
Fifty Shades Of Grey, Jupiter Ascending, Pixels and Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 have each received six nominations for this year’s Razzie Awards.
All four have been shortlisted for the Worst Picture prize, where they will compete against notorious superhero flop Fantastic Four, which is close behind with five nominations of its own.
Fifty Shades stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are nominated for Worst Actor and Worst Actress respectively, as well as for Worst Screen Combo. The winners of the top two acting prizes at last year’s Oscars, Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore, both receive Razzie nods too: Redmayne for his role in Jupiter Ascending, and Moore for hers in Seventh Son.
Other actors waking up to Razzie nominations include Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow (for comedy flop Mortdecai), Rooney Mara and Amanda Seyfried (for Pan) and Adam Sandler (for Pixels and The Cobbler).
Last year the anti-awards bash introduced a new prize, The Razzie Redeemer Award, which recognises stars who have gone from zero to hero over the past 12 months. Elizabeth Banks, Will Smith, M. Night Shyamalan and Sylvester Stallone – who won a Golden Globe on Sunday for his performance in Creed – will all compete for the only most covetable, or perhaps least offensive, Razzie trophy.
This year’s Razzies will take place in Los Angeles on February 27 – the night before the Oscars. The awards have recognised the worst in Hollywood film-making since 1981, when they were founded by publicist John J.B. Wilson as a spoof of the Oscars.
