Final ‘Twilight’ movie to have different ending from book?

Robert Pattinson admits he was shocked the first time he read the 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' script

The final instalment in the Twilight film franchise, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, is said to have a different ending from the book.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Twilight author Stephanie Meyer and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg “dreamed up” the new denouement over dinner. Breaking Dawn – Part 2, due in November, is the second of two films based on Meyer’s final Twilight novel.

During an interview with the magazine, Twilight star Robert Pattinson admitted that he was initially taken aback by the ending. He recalled: “When I first read the script, I got to that part and was like, ‘What?’ And then I had to go back a page. It does it a serious justice.”

Exact details surrounding the film’s final scenes are being kept secret. However, Pattinson’s co-star Kristen Stewart also insisted that she is happy with the conclusion of the series. She explained: “It’s clearly made by someone who really cares. That’s why [director] Bill Condon is perfect. Thank God for him.”

Earlier this week (August 9), Condon asked Twilight fans to respect Stewart and Pattinson as they embark on promotional duties for the film. Last month (July 26), it emerged that Stewart had cheated on Pattinson – her boyfriend of over two years as well as her co-star – with movie director Rupert Sanders. She later issued a public apology for her indiscretion.

Meanwhile, a representative for the studio behind Twilight, Summit Entertainment, has confirmed that the release of Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will not be affected by the stars’ relationship difficulties. “While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors, Summit is moving full steam ahead,” the representative said. The final Twilight movie opens in the UK and US on November 16. Scroll down to watch a clip from the film.
