The first look at Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik in the forthcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie has seemingly leaked online.
The video game will hit cinemas in a big screen adaptation set for release in November 2019, with the titular hero’s voice provided by Parks & Recreation‘s Ben Schwartz.
While a leaked image of the hero courted controversy in March, it seems that we’ve now received our first look at Jim Carrey as his ultimate nemesis.
Prior leaks have stated that Robotnik gets stranded in Sonic’s world at the end and a post credits scene shows him with no hair, a big stache and a big belly

An image from SEGABits is believed to have originated from a trailer that will arrive today – and it shows Carrey doing his best to tackle the iconic villain.
In the first look, Carrey dons the villain’s recognisable goggles and moustache, although he’s sporting a bit more hair than the traditionally bald bad character. He also appears to be piloting a mysterious craft, with a cityscape being clearly visible in the background.
Confirming the veracity of the image, writer Scott Wampler said: “It’s real. We saw two trailers at CinemaCon, one which was entirely focused on Carrey as Robotnik. He’s playing the character in what I would describe as ‘late 90’s Jim Carrey mode’.”
While the trailer is yet to arrive, the first poster emerged in late 2018 and drew immediate criticism – with some being decidedly unsure about his rather long legs.
