Jack Black, Angelina Jolie and Bryan Cranston lead the voice cast in the computer-animated sequel
The first trailer for Kung Fu Panda 3 has been released today (June 18).
Once again Jack Black provides the voice of hero Po, leading an impressive voice cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, Rebel Wilson and J.K. Simmons. Kung Fu Panda 2 director Jennifer Shuh returns to the director’s chair, joined by co-director Alessandro Carloni. The script was written by regular Kung Fu Panda screenwriting duo Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.
The official plot synopsis teases: “When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible – learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!”
Released in 2008, Kung Fu Panda was a huge hit at the box office, raking in over $630 million (£397 million) at cinemas worldwide. The 2011 sequel was even more successful, grossing over $665 million (£419 million) at cinemas globally. Kung Fu Panda 3 is set for release in March 2016 at a date to be confirmed.
