Martin Freeman battles the undead in terrifying first trailer for Netflix’s ‘Cargo’

We're already petrified...

The new trailer for zombie thriller Cargo has been released, and it sees Martin Freeman battling the undead in a bid to save his daughter’s life.

In the first teaser, we see the Hobbit star mounting a desperate battle for survival after his wife becomes infected with a mysterious disease which transforms people into flesh-eating monsters only 48 hours after their first contact with the condition.

Set against the unforgiving landscape of the Australian outback, the film then follows what happens when Freeman contracts the disease – forcing him to get his daughter to an uninfected family before the condition truly kicks in.

Based upon Yolanda Ramke and Ben Hayes’ short film of the same name from 2013, Cargo is also produced by the team behind acclaimed Aussie horror The Babadook – which means that there’s some high quality scares on offer.

It also reviewed a four star from The Guardian after making its festival debut last year.

“The living dead are frightening again, not because of jump scares, surprise attacks or haunted house style shenanigans, but because they remind us of truly terrifying things: losing ourselves, and our loved ones”, the review stated.

It’s set to debut on Netflix from May 18.
