OfficialCharts.com reveals sales of 2.44 million for Disney fairy tale 'Frozen'
According to data from the Official Charts Company, Frozen, The Hobbit – The Desolation of Smaug and The Hunger Games – Catching Fire are the best-selling DVDs and Blu-rays of 2014 so far.
Inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale ‘The Snow Queen’, Frozen is the year’s top seller to date with sales of 2.44 million.
Frozen has also been revealed as the fastest-selling DVD and Blu-ray of the year. It sold 900,000 units during its first week of release back in March.
In second place The Hobbit – The Desolation of Smaug, based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien and the second instalment of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, has sold 1.19 million copies since its release in April.
In bronze position so far The Hunger Games – Catching Fire, based on the young adult novel by Suzanne Collins and starring Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss Everdeen, has sold 934,000 units since its release in March.

Meanwhile, Frozen‘s signature song ‘Let it Go’, performed by Idina Menzel, has reached number 10 on the list of the best-selling songs of 2014 so far with over 500,00 sales in the UK.
