‘Game Of Thrones’ directors in the frame for ‘Thor 2’

Marvel is looking to replace departing director Patty Jenkins

Thor 2‘s potential directors have been revealed by Marvel.

Patty Jenkins had been in the frame to direct the superhero sequel after Kenneth Branagh decided not to return for a second movie. However, she recently stood down herself, citing “creative differences”.

Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter a new shortlist has been drawn up. The studio is said to be courting Game Of Thrones and True Blood director Daniel Minahin for the job. Also in the frame is fellow Game Of Thrones helmer Alan Taylor, who has also worked on The Sopranos.

Marvel is also seeking a new writer for the project, to succeed Don Payne, who has already drafted a treatment, with names suggested including John Collee, Robert Rodat and Roger Avery.

Stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman have all confirmed that they will return for the God Of Thunder’s next solo outing. Before that, Thor will appear in all star adventure The Avengers.
