Jonathan Pryce and Keisha Castle-Hughes join the cast for the new season
Season five of Game of Thrones is to premiere on HBO on Sunday, April 12, the US cable network has announced.
Sky Atlantic has also confirmed that season five will begin at 9pm the following day, Monday, April 13. Once again, the new season will consist of ten episodes.
HBO unveiled nine new cast members for Game of Thrones season five at San Diego Comic-Con in July, including former Bond villain Jonathan Pryce and Oscar-nominated actress Keisha Castle-Hughes.
For the first time, Game of Thrones author George RR Martin has not written an episode for the forthcoming season, as he is concentrating on completing the sixth novel in his series, The Winds of Winter.
Meanwhile, former Game of Thrones star Charles Dance – who played wealthy Lord Tywin Lannister in the first four seasons – has recently revealed that discussions about a potential spin-off film are now underway.
