Daenerys Targaryen actress says she was worried about getting 'pigeonholed' for stripping off
Game Of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke has revealed that she turned down the lead role in Fifty Shades Of Grey because the film contains “a huge amount of nudity”.
The English actress, who plays Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO fantasy series, admitted that she was worried about being “pigeonholed” for stripping off on screen having already filmed numerous revealing scenes for Game Of Thrones. The role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Of Grey eventually went to Dakota Johnson.
“I really wanted to work with [director] Sam Taylor-Johnson because she’s fucking amazing,” Clarke told Marie Claire. “But there is a huge amount of nudity in the film. I’ll never say ‘I’m never doing nudity’ because I’ve already done it, but I thought I might get stuck in a pigeonhole that I would have struggled to get out of.”
Rising star Clarke will soon be seen as Sarah Connor, the iconic role originated by Linda Hamilton, in Terminator Genisys starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jai Courtney, which opens in cinemas on July 1.
Meanwhile, a teaser clip from Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to this year’s Fifty Shades Of Grey, has recently been released. The second film in the series is set for release on February 10, 2017 but currently has no director after Taylor-Wood chose not to return to the director’s chair.
