‘Gavin & Stacey’ star Joanna Page to appear in ‘Doctor Who’ 50th anniversary show

She joins Matt Smith, Jenna-Louise Coleman, David Tennant and Billie Piper in the special episode

Gavin & Stacey actress Joanna Page has joined the cast of Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary episode.

The anniversary special will feature current Timelord Matt Smith and companion Jenna-Louise Coleman as well as old favourites David Tennant and Billie Piper, whose return was confirmed over the weekend. Veteran actor John Hurt also has a role.

The anniversary episode is rumoured to be 90 minutes long and filming is set to begin this week. It’ll air on BBC One on November 23.

Recently, Matt Smith teased that the anniversary episode “manages to pay homage to everything – and look forward”, saying of the script: “I read it and I clapped at the end. I think it’s hilarious, it’s epic and it’s vast.” Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch a trailer for the anniversary special.

Page’s role has yet to be revealed, but she isn’t the first Gavin & Stacey star to make an appearance on Doctor Who. James Corden has appeared in two episodes of the long-running sci-fi series and Ruth Jones popped up on spin-off show Torchwood in 2008.
