There could be a ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ spin-off featuring Rocket and Groot in the future

Vin Diesel suggested director James Gunn would be up for the project in a new interview

Vin Diesel has suggested Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn wants to make a spin-off of the movie franchise, focusing on characters Rocket and Groot.

Diesel provides the voice for Baby Groot alongside Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon in the film series, the second part of which will be released next year.

While speaking to Screen Junkies to promote his new movie XxX: The Return Of Xander Cage, the actor was asked if Groot would one day appear in a film with a character like Spider-Man. He replied: “I think if it’s up to James Gunn, you’re going to see a Groot/Rocket movie.”

A new trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 was shared online over the weekend (December 4).

The movie will star the likes of Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), as well as Cooper and Diesel.

The trailer shows Cooper’s character trying to explain to Baby Groot which button not to press on an atomic bomb and Dave Bautista (Drax The Destroyer) jumping towards a huge creature. It also features Sweet’s song ‘Fox On The Run’.

Director James Gunn recently compared Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 to his original 2014 movie. “I’d say the first film is a space opera, not a science-fiction film,” he said. “The second move is a bit more science-fiction, though.”
