‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ will be connected to ‘The Avengers’, says director

James Gunn confirms link between two Marvel films

Guardians Of The Galaxy will be connected to The Avengers, it has been revealed.

Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn has confirmed that there will be a link between the two Marvel projects. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he stated: “We are definitely connected to The Avengers 3.”

The film centres on a team of superheroes – including Star-Lord, Drax The Destroyer and Rocket Raccoon – who appear in a 2008 comic book series of the same name. Marvel are hoping that it will kickstart another big screen franchise like The Avengers when it is released this August (2014).

It was reported recently that Marvel are already discussing a sequel to the film, which could potentially be released on May 6, 2016 – a date which has been reserved for an unannounced project by Marvel, and would come shortly after a Guardians Of The Galaxy cartoon series premieres on Disney XD in autumn 2015. Marvel, however, have not yet commented on the reports.

The film’s bumper cast includes John C Reilly, Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt and Vin Diesel.
