Gwyneth Paltrow to appear in ‘The Avengers’

Actress will reprise her 'Iron Man' role of Pepper Potts

Gwyneth Paltrow will appear in The Avengers after all, it has emerged.

The actress has played Iron Man’s love interest Pepper Potts in both of his solo movie outings, leading to speculation that she could appear in Marvel’s Joss Whedon-directed superhero ensemble.

She said herself last year: ”I’ll probably be in Iron Man 3. I’ll possibly be very briefly in The Avengers. Maybe, we’ll see.”

Paltrow’s appearance in the film has now been confirmed with the emergence of the film’ Japanese trailer.

At two-and-a-half minutes, the trailer also unveils further new footage, including the debut of Cobie Smulders as SHIELD agent Maria Hill, and even more spectacular footage of the villainous Loki’s alien army wreaking havoc across Los Angeles.

The first of this year’s major superhero blockbusters, the film pulls together Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and features the debuts of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

The movie is released in the UK under the title of Marvel Avengers Assemble on April 26.
