Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted that she has reservations about returning for The Avengers 2.
The Oscar-winning actress, wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, plays Tony Stark’s memorably-named assistant Pepper Potts in the Iron Man movies. She also appeared as Potts in this year’s The Avengers, which united Iron Man with his fellow Marvel superheroes Captain America, Thor and the Hulk.
Paltrow, 39, has just filmed her fourth appearance as Potts in Iron Man 3, which is scheduled for release next May. Earlier this year, she also shot an independent romantic comedy film called Thanks For Sharing alongside Mark Ruffalo and singer-turned-actress Pink.
However, when asked whether she wants to play Potts again in The Avengers 2, Paltrow told E! News: “I just came off of Iron Man 3, which is as special effects-y and action-y as it gets, so to do something like [Thanks For Sharing] where it’s really small, funny and exciting, is really great. I don’t know [about The Avengers 2], I’m getting old for this shit, you know what I mean?”
Since its release in May, The Avengers has become the third biggest movie ever, grossing over $1.5 billion (£930 million) worldwide. The sequel is scheduled for release in May 2015. Writer-director Joss Whedon was initially hesitant to helm a second film, but his return was confirmed last month (August) when he signed an exclusive deal with Marvel.
