Nothing is official yet but Ford says he's 'looking forward' to playing Han Solo again
Harrison Ford has admitted he is almost certainly returning to Star Wars.
Last month (February), it was reported that Ford had signed on to reprise his iconic role as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII. George Lucas has since let slip that Ford and his ’70s co-stars Carrie Fisher and Mark Fisher were “pretty much” signed to the new Star Wars movie before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney.
Now Ford has spoken about his Star Wars return for the first time, making clear that nothing is official yet. He told WGNTV: “I think it’s almost true. I’m looking forward to it. It’s not in the bag yet, but I think it’s happening.”
Earlier this month (March), Carrie Fisher seemed to confirm her role in the new Star Wars movie, before swiftly insisting she was joking. Meanwhile, Mark Hamill has admitted to being “in talks” to play Luke Skywalker again.
The new Star Wars movie is being helmed by JJ Abrams, director of this year’s Star Trek Into Darkness and co-creator of Lost. Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt has been hired to pen the script and Disney is aiming for a 2015 release.
