Actor paid much more than newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega
Actor Harrison Ford was paid up to £23 million to reprise the role of Han Solo in new Star Wars film The Force Awakens, according to reports.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens recently opened in cinemas worldwide, receiving rave reviews critically and acclaim from fans.
The Mail On Sunday claimed over the weekend that Ford was paid a much larger sum than his co-stars to appear in the latest instalment of the franchise.
However, Variety has since reported that the figure may be too high and that his real salary was “in the eight-figure range ($10 million to $20 million)”.
If the original figures are correct then it means that Ford earned over 70 times more than newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, who were paid £300,000 each for their roles, according to the Mail.
Variety adds that actors Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were paid salaries in the “low-seven-figure range”.
Ford was famously paid under £7,000 when he starred in the original 1977 Star Wars film.
Meanwhile, Harrison Ford has recalled how he broke his leg while shooting the movie at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire this summer.
