Harry Potter fans react after premiere of new ‘Cursed Child’ play

Two-part stage show opened last night in London and the reviews are in

The new Harry Potter play has opened in London and fans have given their verdict on the franchise sequel.

The two-part Harry Potter And The Cursed Child begins previews at London’s Palace Theatre this week ahead of its official opening on July 30. Part one opened last night (June 7) and part two debuts on Thursday (June 9).

Set 19 years after the final Harry Potter novel, the stage show features new, older versions of Rowling’s famous characters Harry, Ron and Hermione.

The Telegraph reports that fans gave a standing ovation at the end of part one, with one fan telling the BBC: “I can’t wait for the next one. I’m hoping it’s the first of many more.”

The Telegraph review added: “The audience came wanting magic and they got in spades”, while The Mirror‘s Clare Fitzsimons said: “Spells and hexes combined with laughs and drama mean Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be every bit the hit everyone expects.”
