'Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery' will be released on iOS and Android in the spring
A new Harry Potter mobile game is set to be released later this year.
The game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, will come out in the spring, and is set to be the first video game to be adapted from JK Rowling’s original series of novels since 2013’s Wonderbook: Book of Potions – which came out exclusively on PlayStation 3.
Hogwarts Mystery – which has been developed by Jam City – will be available to download on iOS and Android-enabled smartphones in the spring. The game will enable players to “create a personalised student avatar, attend classes, learn magical skills, form friendships or rivalries with other students, and make pivotal decisions that will influence their character’s story arc as they traverse their years at Hogwarts and grow as a witch or wizard”.
You can find out more information about the upcoming game here, while you can watch the official trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery below.
The game will eventually face competition from another mobile game which has been inspired by Rowling’s novels – Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, which is being developed by the makers of Pokémon Go.
This week, Rowling debunked a popular Harry Potter myth by revealing the origin behind the name of The Leaky Cauldron pub, which features in the books.
