He’s not known as one of the most prominent or even best loved Avengers, but it seems that Hawkeye has done enough to warrant his own TV series.
The Marvel character, portrayed by Jeremy Renner, will reportedly return in a limited series that’s being developed for new streaming service Disney+.
According to Variety , Renner is set to reprise the role once more – although it’s set to expand the dimensions of Hawkeye’s world. It’s said that the titular hero will be joined by Kate Bishop, a popular character from the comics who takes up the honourable Hawkeye name as a member of the Young Avengers.
While Disney + is developing a number of shows based around the MCU, it doesn’t make the reports sound any less surprising. After all, Hawkeye was entirely absent when Thanos wreaked havoc in Avengers: Infinity War.
He’ll return in Avengers: Endgame, although it’s widely expected that he’ll assume the guise of Ronin – another identity that he assumes in the comics.
This comes after Disney previously confirmed that a Loki TV show is in the works, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the god of chaos.
“It’s been extremely additive to the entire creative arc, not just of the Disney+ programs we’re working on, but on the entire post-Endgame MCU,” Marvel boss Kevin Feige previously told Collider.
“Because we’ve been able to weave them. We’ve been able to, for the first time, conceive of them together, and they will be intertwined with each other.”
