Superman star Henry Cavill has taken to social media to reassure fans that he’s definitely still alive after Google incorrectly suggested that he had died.
British actor Cavill – who has portrayed Clark Kent in the DC Extended Universe since 2013 – posted a photo to Instagram earlier today (March 5), along with a screenshot of Google results appearing to list his death as “3 March 2018”.
“When you learn that you died 2 days ago…”, Cavill quipped. See his post in its entirety below.
Cavill has played Superman in three DC films to date, 2013’s Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and last year’s Justice League.
Superhero mash-up Batman v Superman starred Cavill alongside Ben’s Affleck Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.
The film received a generally negative response from critics, with review aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes giving it an approval rating of a lowly 27%.
Co-star Ben Affleck later responded to criticism of the movie, saying that he could “understand” the “fair” complaints.
Speaking to Empire about the backlash, Affleck said: “I can understand people saying [the film] was too dark, or this was outside the tone of what I’m used to seeing with a Batman story, and I think that’s a fair criticism.”
