Here’s a new ‘Star Wars’ trailer ‘to piss off hateful fan boys’ who attacked Kelly Marie Tran

To upset misogynists, Rey cuts off the penises off all the 'cool male characters' before they fall into a big hole

Stephen Colbert has created a new Star Wars trailer to hit back at the trolls who sent abusive messages to actress Kelly Marie Tran. Check it out below.

Last week, it emerged that Tran after deleted all of her Instagram posts following months of harassment from angry fans. She was the first woman of colour to play a leading role in the franchise, and it was first reported back in December that she had faced racist and sexist comments after her appearance in the film.

Taking to The Late Show Stephen Colbert has partnered with Lucasfilm to put together a trailer for “the first Star Wars film specifically designed to make racist, misogynist nerds mad.”

“They attacked this beautiful, young actress for her ethnicity, her appearance and her sex,” said Colbert, introducing the trailer. “And may I remind you, Kelly Marie Tran is the first lead woman in a Star Wars movie who is not white. So, just to teach these fanboys a lesson, we here at The Late Show have partnered with Lucasfilm to create a new Star Wars movie.”

To upset misogynists, Rey cuts off the penises off all the ‘cool male characters’ before they fall into a big hole. The segment on tran starts below at the 1minute 35seconds mark, before the trailer itself starts at 2minutes 30seconds.

Following the news, a number of celebrities have been showing their support for Tran on social media. Her fellow Star Wars castmember Mark Hamill posted a picture of himself with Tran, asking “what’s not to love?”

Last Jedi director Rian Johnson took on one of Tran’s trolls, writing: ” You know the difference between not liking a movie and hatefully harassing a woman so bad she has to get off social media?”

Meanwhile, ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ has become the first Star Wars film to officially flop.

It’s the first movie within the franchise to make a loss during its second week in theatres, box office data reveals.
